How are all our Paesani out there holding up in quarantine? Is everyone keeping busy? Got enough to eat? What’s in your stockpile?
If you’re Italian, you’ve probably been preparing for a quarantine your whole life without even knowing it!
In light of the current COVID-19 crisis, this week’s episode will introduce the new normal here at the Italian American Podcast… a remote recording that will take a look at what we all have in our personal “quarantine stockpiles,” what we are planning for the coming weeks on the Italian American Podcast, and how this unprecedented time has affected our daily lives. We’ll dive into the idea of “quarantine cuisine,” and which comfort foods we’re all turning to during the lockdown.
We’re discussing what we’re doing to stay healthy, physically and mentally, and what the “new normal” really does look like. We’re also sharing what’s on our Netflix streams and some of the latest Italian and Italian American programming available to help you pass the time.
We’ll explore our ancestors’ devotions in times of struggle, and show how we can learn from them as we examine faith, saints, home remedies, and more. In a collective cry of “we can do this,” we will also talk about our happy moments from quarantine, including how this time can help strengthen the bonds of family and friendship and how, once this is over, we might no longer take for granted certain aspects of our daily lives.
And finally, we will introduce you to some of the new types of content we’re creating to help you find a little bit of levity, and remotely access your Italian American culture, in the coming weeks ahead.
Hunker down with us—we promise to bring heart, smarts, and a lot of laughter to your bunker too!
Grazie mille,
The Italian American Podcast Team
